...Fun...Wrinkles...Sun...

Doctors say too much sun causes wrinkles. Yet unless your a Vampire avoiding the sunlight is not a healthy thing to do. So the best thing to do is go for a healthy balance of fun in the sun.

Like avoid the midday sun rays between 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Wear a healthy dose of sunblock with a high (SPF) number. Apply to your skin about 30 minutes before going to swim or sun bathe. Also if you plan to avoid all that sunlight be sure to take vitamin D. It's an essential vitamin that sunlight provides us for good health. Oh! one more thing to avoid that will cause the very same wrinkling rays as the sun, is the all popular tanning booth. Your safest bet is to just run away from them, no matter how tempting.

...Blocked Coronary Arteries...

Blocked coronary arteries that under go balloon angioplasty seem to have a problem with just closing back up again about six months after the operation. Which is a bummer when you look at the cost of such an operation. So how do you make your angioplasty last and keep your arteries open? Well according to the doctors at the Laval University and the Quebec Heart Institute it's really easy to do. The key is fish oil, taking 15 fish-oil capsules daily for about three weeks before an angioplasty, and for about 6 months after does the trick.

Yet to maintain good healthy open arteries to prevent ever having to have an angioplasty is even better. Also very simple to do as well. Make fish part of your weekly diet. Three severings a week of about 7 and a half ounces of fish should do it.

I'm eating my share for sure. After seeing what an angiplasty did to a friend of my Mom, I never want to have to even go there. So yes fish has become a staple in my home. From tuna to broiled salmon and lots of other sea-food as well.

...If You Don't Like To Eat 'Em...

Then Juice 'Em!

Did you eat your health quota of fruits and veggies today? Probly not. The National Center for Health Statitics notes that very few people do. Which is very understandable. Who wants to chow down on five servings a day of fresh fruits and vegetable's. Even though we know we need them to get the optimum nutrition that our body needs to maintain good health.

Just Juice 'Em!

Because with all of our avoidance of choking all these fruits and veggies down we are setting up our bodies for a down fall. All these fruits and veggies we are missing are high in beta-carotene, and these diets that are high in beta-carotene have shown promise in preventing heart disease as well as certain kinds of cancer. So if your like me and desire to live to be 100 years old juice 'em and drink 'em.

Juice 'Em and Drink 'Em!

I like to call it Supplements in a glass, and the best weight watchers plan in the world. The only draw back is the juicing cuts back the fiber fruits and veggies offer. Something important you need to maintain healthy cholesterol levels. To fix this problem also eat a varity of fruits and veggies during the week, and only use the juice as a supplement not a replacement. Now that that's out of the way. I want to share my favorite juice 'em.

Carrot-Apple Gusto
--------------------
2-medium carrots
1-celery stalk
1-medium apple
1-medium beet with tops
1-cup of fresh parsley, loosely packed
Wash all really well in cold water. Then chop them into chunks. Remove the tops from the beets so they can be fed into your juicer easily.

This sweet and wonderful concoction will make one cup of juice. For more just double everything and so on...

...Earache...

Did you know earaches are worse at night. Plugged eustachian tubes which lead from the back of the throat to the middle ear are the most common cause of earache.
As you chew and swallow, and are sitting up durring the day the muscles of the eustachian tubes contract, openning them and allowing air into the middle ear. But at night when you sleep, things change. You fall asleep feeling good with no pain, but those tubes are no longer draining naturally, and your not swallowing as often. Which means they aren't getting as much air. So you wake around midnight feeling like you are being stabbed in the ear by a hot poker.
Other things that can cause earaches as well are swimmers ear, infections, atmospheric pressure from airplane travel, and also deep-sea diving.
Well when your ears ache it's good to see your doctor, but until you get there, try these few tips to help lessen the pain.

1. If you can prop your head up slightly while you sleep to get better drainage.
2. Put warm mineral or baby oil drops in the offending ear. CAUTION: Never drop any kind of liquid into your ear if you think the ear drum may be punctured or ruptured.
3. Yawn - It moves the muscle that opens the eustachian tube even better than chewing gum or sucking on mints will. Relieving a whole lot of pressure and pain.
